Springfield Park Elementary School’s Spring Carnival will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the school grounds at 4301 Fort McHenry Pkwy. in Glen Allen. The carnival will feature food from the Grapevine and Gelati Celeste, music from School of Rock and the J.R. Tucker Jazz Band, a magic show, cake walk, games, inflatables, crafts, a book fair, caricaturist, silent auction and more.


ComedySportz Richmond will present Shave a Life 2018, a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Two teams of improv heavyweights will battle it out for points and laughs in a comedy match with raised stakes – somebody is going home bald, including some of the audience. The 10th annual RVA French Food Festival will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Apr. 27 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Apr. 28 at 1503 Michaels Rd. in western Henrico. The festival features authentic French cuisine, live entertainment, kid’s activities, a Parisian Marketplace and more. Proceeds benefit Little Sisters of the Poor. Admission and parking are free. The Vintage Home Market will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Apr. 27 (VIP early bird preview shopping party) and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Apr. 28 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The Dogwood Wine Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Reynolds Building parking lot, 6641 W. Broad St. This family-friendly festival brings together hundreds of Virginia’s best local businesses, artisans, wineries and craft breweries to help support cancer research. The J.R. Tucker High School Shoestring Players will hold its first annual Mama-Palooza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 2910 Parham Rd. A variety of vendors – including LuLaRoe, Scentsy, Thirty-One, Younique, Usborne Books, Paparazzi and more – will be selling items perfect for Mother’s Day. Christ Church Episcopal, 5000 Pouncey Tract Rd., will present “Song of the Redeemed,” a benefit concert for Haiti, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. This narrated, multi-media worship concert will help you understand Haiti – the poorest country in the Western hemisphere that is suffering the effects of corruption, racism and slavery – and the hope of redemption. The Henrico County Police Division, along with the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will participate in the nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three locations in Henrico County: Henrico Training Center, 7701 E. Parham Road (access from Shrader Road); Varina Library, 1875 New Market Road; and Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 N. Laburnum Avenue. The program is free and anonymous. Virginia Repertory Theatre on Tour will present “Huck & Tom and the Mighty Mississippi” at 2 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Rd. All ages will delight in this classic story brought to life. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.henricolive.com.


Practice Tai Chi and Qigong simultaneously with people around the world on World Tai Chi & Qigong Day at Eastern Henrico Recreation Center. Warm-up and learn basic Sun Style technique at 9:30 a.m. The World Tai Chi Celebration will start at 10 a.m. with demonstrations taking place from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Admission is free. Pedal through Petals, a guided bike tour through some of Richmond’s most beautiful architecture and gardens, will start at Lakeside Farmer’s Market, 6106 Lakeside Ave. Registration and breakfast will start at 8 a.m. and then, starting at 9:30 a.m., waves will depart with a guide to lead you through Northside neighborhoods. There will also be food, beer, wine, a raffle and silent auction at the Farmer’s Market.
