Walkerton Tavern, 2892 Mountain Rd., will present “Remembering the Great War: The Home Front” from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Professor Lynn Rainville, author of “Virginia and the Great War,” will share information about the surprisingly large role that the state played in World War I. She will discuss the efforts of women and men on the home front, trace the paths of Virginians fighting in France, and highlight the memorials that were created in the Commonwealth to honor the sacrifices of these soldiers. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present the Rock & Roll Jubilee at 7 p.m. Mar. 9-10 and at 2:30 p.m. Mar. 11. Flashback to 1958 and be a part of the studio audience for the live broadcast on (fictitious) WJKS radio as it channels the spirits of the founding fathers of rock n’ roll. RVA favorites Craig Evans, Brad Tucker, Brian Sulser, George Garrett, Jim Wark, and BJ Kocen will perform all your favorite songs from the Titans of Teen Town. The Craftsmen's Classic Art & Craft Festival will take place Mar. 9-11 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The festival features original designs and work from hundreds of artists and craftspeople from across America. CharacterWorks, a non-profit after-school theater arts program, will present “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella” Mar. 9-11 at The Steward School, 11600 Gayton Rd. This surprisingly contemporary take on the classic fairytale features Ella, who lives in the care of her wicked, self-absorbed stepmother Madame and Madame’s two daughters. ComedySportz Richmond will present their hilarious, fast-paced and clean comedy at 8 p.m. Mar. 9 and at 7 p.m. Mar. 10 at the CSZ Improv Theatre, located at 8906-H West Broad St. ComedySportz Richmond pits two teams, the Richmond Legends and the Virginia Hams, against each other in an improv battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games and songs on the spot based off of audience suggestions. There is also a referee that calls the fouls and the national anthem is even played before each match. The audience then votes for the winners. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The Richmond Funny Bone, located at Short Pump Town Center, will present comedian David Arnold at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Mar. 9, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Mar. 10 and at 7 p.m. Mar. 11. A 20-year stand-up veteran, Arnold has performed on everything from Comedy Central to BET. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Rd. in Glen Allen, will present Americana/bluegrass group East of Monroe at 8 p.m. Based in Virginia and Maryland, East of Monroe’s music explores bluegrass, country, folk and swing with tasteful arrangements of original compositions as well as contemporary and traditional songs.
