NOV 3The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen’s 2nd Stage season continues with An Evening of Bluegrass featuring Big Boss Combo at 7 p.m. Big Boss Combo is a five-piece bluegrass band featuring the family-style singing of the Johnson Brothers from West Virginia – Rusty (banjo), Slim (fiddle), Harry (mandolin), Big Red (bass) and Tiny (guitar). Christmas at Granny’s is a re-creation of the traditional craft show that took place at the Inn in the 80s and 90s – all the rooms at the Inn, including the bathrooms, are decorated with handmade crafts from local artisans so the customer can imagine the items in their own spaces. The pow-wow is an opportunity for the public to interact with members from more than 100 Indian tribes and to learn firsthand about rich Native American traditions including dancing, drumming, singing, arts and crafts, and food. Items for sale include turquoise, jewelry, moccasins, beadwork, rugs, books and paintings. A parade of nations with over 100 American Indians in regalia will take place at noon on Nov. 4. Caring Clothes Closet RVA, a free clothing ministry that helps at-risk kids, single moms and the homeless, will host the 4th annual Pop Up Shop Holiday Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Rd. The Varina Lions Club will host the 2017 Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home Reception Center at 4660 S. Laburnum Ave. There will be dental checkups, diabetes screenings, blood pressure readings, light refreshments and more. Eyeglasses and hearing aids will be collected. The Henrico County Department of Community Revitalization will offer a Home Repair and Maintenance workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Eastern Government Center. Learn how to undertake minor repairs such as fixing water leaks, how to spot potential problems, maintaining your heating system and preparing your home for cold weather. Safe Harbor will sponsor The Walk to End It at 1 p.m. at Deep Run Park. The walk, which begins at 2 p.m., is approximately three miles. The Department of Justice and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children ranks Richmond one of the Top 20 jurisdictions for sex trafficking in the United States. The University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts will host its annual Family Arts Day Celebration at 1 p.m. This art-centered family fun day features activity tables, art projects, food, and more. A performance of “Click, Clack, Moo” by Theatreworks USA will begin at 3 p.m. This musical about negotiation and compromise is based on the Caldecott Honor Book of the same name by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin.
