Walkerton Tavern, 2892 Mountain Rd., will present “Remembering the Great War: German Sabotage” from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Historian Bert Dunkerly will present the second program in this series. Americans often think World War I was fought “over there” but a great deal of German sabotage occurred on American soil. Dunkerly will give a fascinating look at Kaiser’s war on the United States, including some events that occurred here in Virginia. Admission is free. The Young Irelanders will perform at 7 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Each year the Irish Cultural Academy brings together some of its finest exponents of Irish traditional music, song and dance as part of one terrific group known as the Young Irelanders. Jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts. Discover the impact African Americans played in eastern Henrico County from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Dabbs House Museum, 3812 Nine Mile Rd. Learn about the lives of both enslaved and free people that lived and worked at High Meadow/Dabbs. A police officer will share stories of the time Dabbs House served as a police station. Barbara Lawson will present “Stories with a Twist” at 2 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. Lawson’s performance is entertaining, interactive and full of wild and wonderful stories from all over the world. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.henricolive.com.


The 15th annual Richmond Kids Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The expo is designed to provide parents with an engaging trade show atmosphere while kids enjoy a day of fun and entertainment. There will be contests and prizes, hands-on activities, giveaways, summer camp and school information, arts and crafts, vendors, vacation planning, games, food and more.
