Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Rd., will hold an Open House & Artist Reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The artist reception includes exhibitions by Linda Hollett-Bazouzi, Sandra Nardone, the Tuckahoe Artists Association and the all-media show “Where We Come From: Honoring Our Immigrant Ancestors.” There will also be food, music, magic and more. The Virginia Orchid Society will hold its annual orchid show from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 19, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 21 at Strange’s Florist and Greenhouse, 12111 W. Broad St. Orchid societies from all over the state will set up displays and be judged. There will also be orchid vendors. Admission is free and open to the public.


The Richmond Antique Extravaganza Show and Sale returns to the Richmond Raceway Complex from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 19-20 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 21. The show brings together over 100 select dealers from Florida to New England featuring Victorian, oak, wicker and garden furniture, Americana, tinware, ironware, textiles, Oriental rugs, pottery, fine china and glassware, jewelry, period clothing, books, clocks, dolls, toys and more. Libbie Mill Library will host a Winter Discovery Walk from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The group will begin in the storytime room and then head outside for a short walk and exploration of the natural areas around the library. Varina Library will offer the family workshop “How to Build a Robot” from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bridget Westhoven, of the World Champion Robotics Team FRC 1086 Blue Cheese, will share the process and story behind how her family built their own robot from scratch. Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show will be at the Richmond Raceway Complex from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 20-21. The show features 250+ tables of trains for sale and more than 50 exhibitors from across the country. There will be free workshops and demonstrations, model train drag racing, free train appraisals, free test track, door prize giveaways and more. The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond will broadcast Bolshoi Ballet’s production of “Romeo and Juliet” at 12:55 p.m. in Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music. Pathe Live's Bolshoi Ballet program brings the best Bolshoi Ballet productions direct from Moscow, Russia to cinemas and performing arts centers across the U.S. Each production features behind-the-scenes programming, including interviews with the cast and creative teams, either prior to the start of the production, or during intermission. Mermaid Theatre Company of Nova Scotia will present “Guess How Much I Love You” and “I Love My Little Storybook” at 3 p.m. at the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts. Mermaid Theatre Company is best known for their unique stage adaptations of children’s beloved literary classics.
