FEB 14The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present the Rock & Roll Jubilee at 7 p.m. Feb. 14-15 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 16. RVA favorites Craig Evans, Brad Tucker, Brian Sulser, George Garrett and BJ Kocen will perform hit songs from the Titans of Teen Town – Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson. Additional exhibits feature a wide variety of products and services for the outdoor enthusiast, and experts will answer questions about marinas, financing, insurance, maintenance, repair and safety. Tuckahoe Library and Varina Library will host The Great Backyard Bird Count from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Groups at both locations will first gather for a brief introduction to bird watching and the idea of Citizen Science – a movement in the scientific community in which citizens can contribute data to scientific research. A short walk around the library grounds to look for and count birds will follow. All ages welcome, but children must have adult supervision. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars although a few will be on hand to borrow. For details, visit henricolibrary.org.


Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count with tours at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Citizen Science – a movement in the scientific community in which citizens can contribute data to scientific research – events like the Great Backyard Bird Count are important sources of information when studying global warming and its effect on nature. The McShin Foundation and the Virginia Folk Music Association will host the 10th Annual Bluegrass Concert and Benefit from noon to 7 p.m. at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Road. The line up includes Bracey Junction, Amy Ladd & Friends, Mill Run, Josh Grigsby and County Line, Copper Ridge and The Dust Cutters. Brunswick stew, made on-site by Chiles Cridlin and Wolf's Revenge BBQ, will be available for $10 per quart. Proceeds benefit The McShin Foundation. Tickets are $10 at the door. The Appalachian Twinning Ministry Bluegrass Concert Series at Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church continues with The Grascals from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance and $22 at the door and include dinner. All proceeds benefit the church’s ecumenical efforts in Appalachia. Saint Michaels is located at 4491 Springfield Road in Glen Allen. Attendants4you, a day and evening respite care for children and adults with disabilities, will hold a Chili Cook Off Fundraiser benefiting Miracles in Motion Dance Troupe from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ridge Baptist Church, 1515 Eastridge Road. There will be chili tasting, cake walks, performances by Miracles in Motion and other entertainment. Tasting fees are $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12 and free for ages three and under. Pianist Dmitri Shteinberg will perform at River Road Church, 8000 River Road, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shteinberg has performed with the Richmond Symphony, the Jerusalem Symphony and the Porto National Orchestra, among others. He has made many chamber music and festival appearances and was a winner of the Citta de Senigallia International Piano Competition. Tickets are free. Unit 3 Deep will perform at 7 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. Unit 3 Deep is comprised of keyboardist, producer and songwriter Patrick Cooper; bassist, songwriter, arranger and producer David Dyson; and drummer and producer Duane Thomas. Although the trio has collaborated for years on varying projects, they have played together as Unit 3 Deep since 2015. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets start at $15.
