The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present the 9th annual Djangoary Music Soiree at 7 p.m. Celebrate the creative influence of legendary Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Rd. in Glen Allen, will present up-and-coming Americana music group Tellico at 8 p.m. Firmly planted in Asheville N.C.'s thriving roots music scene, Tellico is well schooled in bluegrass but with an unbridled organic “Appalachiacana” sound. Henrico Humane Society’s 18th annual Pet Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. This indoor event features over 50 exhibitors offering a variety of goods and services, and activities throughout the day including agility and obedience demonstrations, puppy races, dog contests ($3 per entry), blessing of the animals, dog and cat adoptions, silent auctions and more. Join historian Carson Hudson and his musical group to learn of the life and music of the most popular American songwriter of the 19th-century, Stephen Foster, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Belmont Recreation Center. Participants will learn the backstory of Foster’s most endearing songs, sing along and celebrate Foster’s 192nd birthday with refreshments and dancing that was popular during his lifetime. New Orleans Suspects will perform at 7 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. Their music combines tight funk, soulful horns, Americana-based rhythm and blues and a pinch of jamband to create a uniquely funky groove.
