The Richmond Gun Show will be held at Richmond Raceway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 5. Approximately 800 tables will be selling, buying and trading shotguns, rifles, modern guns of all kinds, muskets, antique pistols and more. There also will be swords, knives, hunting supplies, ammo, books, early Indian and western Americana, war relics and more, as well as classes and seminars. Local farmer Ash Hobson Carr will present “Botanical Distillation & Flower Water Lecture” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Twin Hickory Library. Learn how "flower water" is made in this lecture about distilling flowers and herbs to create a product similar to essential oils. The event will include the basics of distilling bioregional seasonal herbs, information about plant identification, the benefits of using fresh vs. dried plant materials, and a Q&A.
