DEC 20The movie “The Polar Express” (2004, G, 100 minutes) will play at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Road. VA Rep on Tour will present “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This family-friendly musical is about Tuck and his father who are preparing for Christmas. Mr. Grumpasaurus tries to thwart their Christmas merriment but with the help of Santa and his elves, Christmas turns out to be the best one yet. Tickets are $15. Richmond’s leading Klezmer band, Heavy Shtetl, will perform at Tuckahoe Library from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Featuring high-spirited Eastern European dance music, Heavy Shtetl includes a vocalist and five musicians. ComedySportz Richmond, 8906-H W. Broad Street, will present poet and comedian Douglas Powell/Roscoe Burnems from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. His show, “Traumedy,” is a mix of stand-up comedy and poignant spoken word poetry. Tuckahoe Plantation, 12601 River Road, will present Colonial Christmas by Candlelight from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn about the plantation’s history and colonial Christmas traditions with a candlelight tour of the grounds and house, decorated in the 18th-century style. The 19th Annual Chanukah on Ice will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at SkateNation Plus, 4350 Pouncey Tract Road, in Short Pump. In addition to the giant Menorah lighting, the community event will include arts and crafts, an arcade, latkes, a quiet room and a special ice skating show surprise. Admission is free.
