DEC 13ComedySportz Richmond will present the 9th annual Improv Festivus Dec. 13-16 at the CSz Richmond Theater, 8906 W. Broad Street. Eight shows over three nights will feature more than 100 improvisors and 30 troupes from across the country. The festival also will include many workshops and master classes throughout the weekend. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Santa Paws at Short Pump Park, 3329 Pump Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take home a holiday photo keepsake with Santa and shop local vendors for unique pet-friendly gifts. The movie “The Grinch” (2018, PG, 85 minutes) will play at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Road. A grumpy grinch goes on a mission to ruin Christmas for the village of Whoville, but a young girl’s generous holiday spirit changes his mind. Enjoy a story time with Santa and songs from the movie performed by Blended Voices one hour prior to the movie. Tickets and concessions are $1 each. The annual James River Parade of Lights, sponsored by the James River Advisory Council in cooperation with Henrico Recreation and Parks, will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Henrico County’s viewing celebration will take place at Osborne Park and Boat Landing, 9530 Osborne Turnpike. Activities and entertainment include a visit from Santa, live music, a bounce house, holiday face painting and more. Tuckahoe Plantation, 12601 River Road, will host its annual Christmas Celebration from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy a candlelight tour of the historic mansion, decorated in 18th-century style, and learn about the plantation’s history and Colonial Christmas traditions. There also will be treats and cider, crafts for kids, story time with Mrs. Claus, a small market with gifts for sale and more. The Biltmore Christmas Store at Biltmore Baptist Church, 1300 New York Avenue in Glen Allen, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Shop for new and gently used gifts, decorations, toys, games, jewelry and more. There will also be a gift wrapping table, hot cider, homemade cookies and a visit from Santa. The James River Singers will perform at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Parham Road. The concert will include traditional carols with a twist arranged by contemporary composer Ola Gjeilo, a baroque “Magnificat,” pieces by Gorecki and Orlando de Lassus, a sing-along and more. The Central Virginia Wind Symphony will present their 15th Annual Holiday Spectacular at two concerts in Henrico: Dec. 14 – 5 p.m. at Regency Mall; and Dec. 15 – 3 p.m. at the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts. The ensemble is comprised of high school musicians from across Central Virginia, including the county of Henrico. Jae Sinnett's Zero to 60 Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. Drummer, composer and band leader Jae Sinnett has produced 15 albums, the first of which, “Obsession,” was released in 1986. His 2016 album “Zero to 60” featured a classic jazz quartet comprised of Ralph Bowen on tenor saxophone, Allen Farnham on piano, Hans Glawischnig on bass, and Sinnett on drums. Sinnett has scored music for five documentaries and is a jazz producer and host for an NPR affiliate in Norfolk. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15.
