NOV 22Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present the Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 22 to Jan. 6 (closed Thanksgiving and Dec. 24-25). The annual event features one million lights, botanical decorations, model trains, holiday dinners, family activities and more. This year’s theme, “Magic in the Air,” will highlight things that fly – from natural wonders (birds and butterflies) and man-made inventions (kites and spaceships) to mythical creatures (unicorns and flying pigs). GardenFest for Fidos, special nights when leashed dogs are allowed, will be held Dec. 5 and Jan. 2. A $2 suggested “pet admission” benefits the Richmond SPCA. Tickets are $5 to $13. Over 40 local vendors will offer a variety of hand-crafted and unique gifts including clothing, jewelry, Christmas items, pet accessories, couture baby items, candles, food and more. The 9th annual ASK 5K Donut Run will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Christopher's School, 711 St. Christopher's Road. The family-friendly run/walk will wind through the St. Christopher’s campus and neighborhood and will include Dunkin’ munchkin stops at miles one and two and a big donut breakfast at the finish line. The film “Toy Story 4” (2019, G, 100 minutes) will play at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre. The Appalachian Twinning Ministry Bluegrass Concert Series at Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church will kick off with Josh Grigsby and County Line from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance and $22 at the door; series passes are available. St. Mary Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, will present “From Sea to Shining Sea” at 3 p.m. During the first decades of America's growth, musicians from all over the world came to America’s shores, bringing with them the unique musical styles which would ultimately blend together to create a truly “American” music. Fiddle virtuoso Michael Ferry, Tom Kaczmarek (piano) and Fr. Michael Renninger (baritone) will explore the musical styles which were popular in America from the time of the 13 Colonies to the end of the Civil War. The concert is free to attend. Seraph Brass, an ensemble featuring some of America’s top female brass players, will perform at River Road Church, 8000 River Road, at 2:30 p.m. Seraph Brass, winner of the 2019 American Prize in Chamber Music, released its debut album “Asteria” on Summit Records, earning a Silver Medal Global Music Award.
