OCT 18Virginia Repertory Theatre will present “Tuck Everlasting: Theatre for Young Audiences Edition” Oct. 18 through Dec. 1 at The Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn in Henrico. Based on Natalie Babbitt’s children’s novel, “Tuck Everlasting” is a co-world premiere with Nashville Children’s Theatre that is adapted from the 2016 Broadway production. Tickets start at $21. For details, visit va-rep.org. *** The Holladay Elementary School PTA will host its annual Fall Festival from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 7300 Galaxie Road. The festival will include carnival games, food, a Cake Walk, Fun Derby, visitors from the community, crafts, the famous MASH unit with glamour station, and more. Admission for children preschool through fifth grade is $5. Children under three and adults are free. All children should be accompanied by an adult or older, responsible sibling. For details, call the school at 261-5054. *** Tuckahoe Family YMCA, 9211 Patterson Avenue, will host a Trunk or Treat for kids from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to trick or treating there will be hayrides, face painting, music and more. The Junior League of Richmond will present its 14th Annual Touch a Truck event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond Raceway. This interactive event allows children to see, touch and safely explore their favorite big trucks and heavy machinery, as well as to meet the personnel who protect, serve and build the Richmond community. The event also will feature area mascots, special performances, food trucks, face painting, bounce castles and games. Henrico County Community Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Henrico High School, 302 Azalea Ave. The free event, organized by Henrico County and Henrico County Public Schools, will offer residents an opportunity to learn more about their local government and school system and to interact with officials. There will also be giveaways, displays and equipment demonstrations, a kids’ zone with inflatables, and entertainment by high school marching bands, cheerleaders and dance teams. Chamberlayne Actors Theatre will present The Red Eye 10s International Play Festival at 8 p.m. The festival features six 10-minute original plays that are performed in multiple theaters around the world on the same day. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Sunday Afternoon with the Classics: Racing in Richmond Turns 3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Deep Run Park. The free event will include a panel discussion and presentation on the area’s best-known oval tracks and most memorable events, led by racing experts, as well as pit crews, officials, owners and drivers. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host its annual harvest celebration, Goblins and Gourds, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event features live music by the Sweet Potatoes and the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra, pumpkin painting, storytelling, scarecrow stuffing, gourd and pumpkin carving demonstrations, snacks and more. The University of Richmond’s 21st annual Trick or Treat Street will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Stern Plaza, located between Ryland Hall and Jepson Hall. There will be a straw maze, bounce houses, a petting zoo, food trucks, a haunted forest, photo booth and more.
