OCT 4The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present “An Evening of Bluegrass” featuring Josh Grigsby and County Line at 7 p.m. The band was awarded the 2015 Bluegrass Band of Virginia Championship by the Virginia Folk Music Association and was also the winner of the 2014 band competition at the Bluegrass by the Bay Festival in Gloucester. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club in association with Henrico County Recreation and Parks will present Glen Allen Day 2019. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Glen Allen High School 5k Fun Run for all ages. A parade down Mountain Road – starting at John Cussons Parkway and ending at Meadow Farm/Crump Park – will start at 9:30 a.m. The Parade Grand Marshal will be Henrico Firehouse No. 15 in Glen Allen. The festival within Meadow Farm will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music and demonstrations, a petting zoo, face painting, games, an arts and crafts fair, food and more. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Road in Glen Allen, will present Italian bluegrass and Americana virtuoso guitarist Beppe Gambetta at 8 p.m. Gambetta has released 11 CDs and is also an author. The Vintage Vibe Market will present “A Vintage Fall” at Richmond Raceway from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. The market is a combination of home décor, vintage-based jewelry, clothing and upcycled products made from repurposed goods, as well as antiques, soaps, scents, candles and local food. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Sunday Afternoon with the Classics: The Chevrolet Corvette from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Deep Run Park. The Corvette Club of Richmond and Richmond Region AACA will present and explore eight generations of vehicle design and why over 1.5 million Corvettes have been manufactured in America and sold around the world. The University of Richmond Museums and Modlin Center for the Arts will present a free Family Arts Day Celebration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free art activities, exhibits to explore, face painting, refreshments and more. FETCH a Cure’s 9th Annual Pet Cancer Awareness Walk and Mutt Strut will take place at Libbie Mill—Midtown from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event includes an interactive walk at 1:30 p.m. followed by a pet-loving vendor fair with activities for children and dogs, food and beverages.
