The Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District hosted its annual Assemblage Jan. 7 to celebrate its community outreach and education programs, among others, and to honor volunteers and student artists.

Held at Belmont Recreation Center, the event recognized Dylan Rooks as Outstanding Volunteer for 2018, while Nicole Anderson Ellis was honored with the title Outstanding Soil Conservationist and James Beckley was named Outstanding Water Conservationist.

Each year, Henricopolis sponsors a Conservation Poster Contest in conjunction with the National Association of Conservation Districts.

For 2018, the theme was "Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home."

Twin Hickory Elementary School students swept all three places in the Grades K-1 poster category, with Tani Shah in first place, Sakthi Natarajan in second and Bivaan Shrestha in third.

Sahan Gurram (Kaechele Elementary) won second place and Isabella Liu (Rivers Edge Elementary) took third.

For Grades 4-6, Nikitah Saravanan of Moody M.S. topped the field with a first place award, while Madeleine Anderson (Wilder M.S.) took second place and Lilly Lennon of Trevvett E.S. won third.
