The free screenings are part of Walmart's commitment to community health and accessible care, according to company officials. The initiative is designed to make health services available and affordable to people in the community who are living with HIV.

The East Henrico pharmacy is one of 12 Virginia SPOC locations offering free HIV screenings. A total of four of those locations are in the Richmond region, including the pharmacies at Walmart's stores in Ashland (145 Hill Carter Parkway), Midlothian (12200 Chattanooga Plaza), and Richmond (2410 Sheila Lane).

"Offering free HIV screenings will help our customers manage their health in a convenient and private setting," said Kristin Morris, a Walmart pharmacist. "We care about our customers. From discussing treatment options and mental health resources to navigating insurance and identifying community resources, we're here to support them, no matter what health complications they might face."

The free HIV screenings are available to anyone. The tests are not diagnoses; in the event of a positive test, Walmart’s pharmacists help patients work with their primary care physician or the Virginia Department of Health to order a confirmatory test.
