Table of Contents

Middle and high school students can receive a variety of vaccinations July 7 at Elko Middle School, the latest in a series of comprehensive walk-in vaccination clinics hosted by Henrico County Public Schools and the Virginia Department of Health that will continue this month. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the school, located at 5901 Elko Road in Sandston.

Subsequent clinics are planned for the same timeframe July 21 (at Brookland Middle School and Tuckahoe Middle School) and July 28 (again at Elko Middle School).

HCPS and the VDH will conduct the clinics at three HCPS middle schools to vaccinate students entering seventh grade or higher. Vaccinations include those for COVID-19 (for students 12 and older), as well as tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, HPV and meningococcal virus. (TDaP and meningococcal virus vaccines are required for students entering seventh grade. Meningococcal virus vaccine is required for students entering 12th grade. HPV and COVID-19 vaccines are offered as a convenience but are not required for school.)

Students can get as many as four vaccines at one time (or during the course of two clinics). No appointment is necessary, and there is no cost.

All students entering grades 7 or higher, and/or students ages 12 and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
