Table of Contents

The program provides matching grants of 50-50% for localities and nonprofit conservation entities, and 100% for state agencies and federally or state-recognized Indian tribes. In total, $12 million in grants is available from the program, and $4 million will be automatically awarded to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation.

The application period closes at 4 p.m. Aug. 28. A virtual workshop for potential applicants will be held in the coming weeks. For details about the workshop, the grant manual and application, visit www.dcr.virginia.gov/vlcf.

One of the many conservation projects that will be funded by the grants is the Virginia Outdoors Foundation's plan to restore 55,575 acres of land across the commonwealth for conservation, with a record $14.7 million awarded to 29 conservation projects in the fiscal year 2024 grant round.
