Virginia witnesses largest single month of job gains in more than a year

The unemployment rate, which dropped 0.1 percentage point, is nearly a full percentage point lower than the national rate, according to the BLS. Virginians employed now account for 4,45 million people, which is nearly 204,000 more people employed since January 2022.

"The economic momentum we’re seeing in Virginia comes from the supportive environment we have for individuals and businesses to thrive," Governor Glenn Youngkin said. "We will continue to build on the progress that’s yielding proven results as we work together to expand investments in education and workforce development, robust infrastructure, safe communities and economic development opportunities."

Non-farm payroll employment grew by 16,500 in March – the state's largest single-month job gains in more than a year, according to the BLS.
