Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin marked Veterans Day by announcing the launch of the Virginia Veterans Network, a new online resource for veterans, transitioning service members, and their families. The announcement came during the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations’ annual Veterans Day Luncheon in Virginia Beach.
The VVN is designed to be a free one-stop-shop for veterans seeking information and support. The platform connects people with hundreds of organizations offering a wide range of services, including assistance with disability benefits, job opportunities, medical care, legal aid, education, and peer support. The network directly connects job training, employment, healthcare, and wellness resources from vetted veterans service organizations, nonprofits, and state agencies.
"Virginia is the proud home of nearly 700,000 military veterans," said Youngkin. "VVN delivers on our promise to give Virginia veterans the best available resources.”
Virginia Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs Craig Crenshaw described the VVN as "another example of how Virginia is committed to providing an excellent quality of life for veterans and their families.”
The VVN was developed by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services in response to veterans' requests for a simpler way to navigate available resources.
"Veterans asked for a simple solution for finding a variety of resources in the commonwealth and beyond, and we made it happen," DVS Commissioner Chuck Zingler said.
