The program will kick off with a two-day conference at Christopher Newport University in Newport News July 22-26. Each team of four students apiece requires one adult sponsor. During the conference, students will be able to attend workshops facilitated by peer leaders and learn prevention best practices from motivational speakers to help develop their strategies to prevent substance use among their peers.

The adult sponsors also participate in their own track throughout the opening conference, receiving resources and training on topics to help them support their team.

The YADAPP program has been in operation since 1984 and has supported more than 12,000 students from 450 different high schools and community organizations.
