Vigil planned April 14 for Varina HS student killed in shooting

A vigil is planned for the Varina High School student who was shot and killed in Richmond last week.
The event, designed to honor the life of Vinshaun Johnson, will take place April 14 at 5 p.m. at Forest Hill Park, 4021 Forest Hill Avenue, in Hut 1. Attendees are asked to wear black and yellow, the colors of Johnson’s favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Johnson died April 7 when he was shot and killed at about 4:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Montvale Avenue, just north of East Brookland Park Boulevard near the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike.
A GoFundMe page to benefit the family had raised more than $10,200 as of Monday afternoon.
