VHCF awards grants to local organizations

The Virginia Health Care Foundation, a non-profit public/private partnership with a mission to increase access to primary health care for uninsured and medically underserved Virginians, has awarded 19 Virginia organizations $2 million in grants to expand access to behavioral health, medical and dental services.

Safe Harbor, a non-profit in Henrico providing shelter and support for those experiencing or who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking, was awarded a grant to help enhance behavioral health services. The $60,000 grant will fund the salary for a full-time pre-licensee therapist to increase its capacity to provide counseling services to both adults and children in Henrico County.

Richmond-Henrico Health District was awarded a grant to improve Medicaid/FAMIS Outreach & Enrollment. The $65,854 grant will fund an outreach worker to help enroll or renew eligible residents of the City of Richmond and Henrico County in the Medicaid/FAMIS health insurance programs.
