VDOT seeks public input on improvement plans for Patterson Avenue, Chamberlayne Road corridors

Table of Contents

The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking public input about two separate transportation studies involving potential safety improvements along two corridors in Henrico County.

Both studies are part of the Project Pipeline program, which is led by Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, with the goal of identifying cost-effective solutions to address multimodal transportation needs throughout Virginia.

One study will involve Patterson Avenue (Virginia Route 6), from Three Chopt Road to Pump Road, while the other will examine Chamberlayne Road (Virginia Route 301), from Azalea Avenue to Interstate 95.

Both studies will evaluate the safety, congestion, capacity, transportation demand management, and accessibility of each road for all transportation users, including cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users.

Residents and travelers in these areas can complete online surveys through June 26 to share their feedback on potential improvements. That input then will be used by the study team to refine recommendations and determine whether to pursue future funding opportunities.

Both studies are expected to be completed later this summer, and final plans will provide strategies that can be used to acquire funding for the projects through a variety of state and federal programs.
