VCIC to present Humanitarian Awards Oct. 26

The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities recently announced recipients of the 58h Annual Humanitarian Awards, who will be be honored in a virtual presentation October 26.
The awards celebration recognizes individuals and organizations for making significant humanitarian contributions to the Richmond community. Honorees for 2020 include Damon S. Jiggetts, Enjoli J. Moon, Jacquelyn E. Stone, Robert L. Thalhimer, and Bon Air Interfaith Trialogue.
Jiggetts, the executive director of Peter Paul, has tripled the number of youth served under his leadership. Jiggetts is also the founder and principal consultant of Resource Partners, LLC, which supports nonprofit and small business operations, organizational development, strategic planning and provides executive coaching.
Moon is founder and creative director of the Afrikana Independent Film Festival, a festival showcasing the cinematic works of people of color from around the world and placing special emphasis on the global Black narrative. She is also assistant curator of film and special programs at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU, where she is dedicated to using film as a catalyst for conversation and authentic connection.
A partner at McGuireWoods, where she began as a summer associate in 1984, Stone has decades of experience advising clients on government relations, regulatory and immigration matters. She was a co-founder of Partnership for the Future, and has served on multiple organizations’ boards, including those at Junior Achievement, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Leadership Metro Richmond, Venture Richmond, and Valentine Museum.
Thalhimer is a senior consultant at The Monument Group, supporting the region’s philanthropic and non-profit community through strategic fund development. He also served 16 years as senior vice president for philanthropic services at The Community Foundation, and has served as executive director of the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation and deputy director of the Science Museum of Virginia.
The recipient of VCIC's 2020 Distinguished Merit Award, Bon Air Interfaith Trialogue was established more than 15 years ago, when leaders from Congregation Or Ami, the Islamic Center of Virginia, and Bon Air Presbyterian Church began meeting together. Since the Trialogue's partnership was founded, it has grown to include members of a dozen faith communities, whose leaders meet regularly to strengthen interfaith relationships, plan the annual Trialogue series, and explore opportunities for additional interfaith engagement. The group also works closely with Crestwood Elementary School on community service projects and provides PTA support.
