Varina to face Atlee for Class 4 boys' basketball title March 14

The Varina High School Blue Devils will seek a state championship – and some revenge – in boys' basketball Friday, March 14 when they face the Atlee High School Raiders for the Class 4 title at VCU's Siegel Center. The game will tip at 8 p.m.
The two teams also faced each other Feb. 28 for the regional title in a game won by Atlee 66-59. Both teams earned tickets to the state tournament, where Varina defeated Hampton, 49-36, and Handley, 56-52, to earn a rematch with Atlee, which had defeated Churchland, 63-54, and E.C. Glass, 69-55.
Atlee enters the state title game 25-1, while Varina is 19-4.
Atlee's only loss this season came Dec. 28 to Heritage, 65-63 in double overtime.
General admission tickets are $12 apiece and are available online.
