Candidates for the Varina District seat on the Henrico School Board will meet Saturday, Aug. 24 at a forum at Varina Library, 1875 New Market Road, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Three-term School Board member John Montgomery is giving up his seat, and four candidates – Alicia Atkins, Joyce Davis, Michelle Henderson and Kandise Lucas – are vying to replace him. Davis sought the seat unsuccessfully 12 years ago; none of the other candidates has sought elected office previously.
The event will feature a 30-minute meet-and-greet, followed by a question-and-answer period during which candidates will address citizen questions. A moderator will select the questions submitted by the attendees prior to and during the event.
