The Virginia Department of Health reported a total of 69 new cases of COVID-19 in Henrico Friday, increasing the county’s total to 3,811.

Henrico has had nine new hospitalizations related to the virus during the past two days, according to the VDH, which also attributed two additional deaths to it. One victim was older than 80 and the other between 60 and 69, the agency reported. The county has witnessed a total of 184 deaths related to the virus (all but 50 among those age 70 or older).

Henrico's 7-day positivity percentage increased slightly to 6.3% as of Aug. 3, the most recent day for which that data is available. In total, nearly 62,000 PCR tests have been conducted on Henrico residents during the pandemic.

The VDH announced Friday that more than 2,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were entering into its database all at once as the result of a data backlog from earlier in the week.

“This figure includes information that should have been reported on Wednesday and Thursday of this week as well as the regular numbers for Friday,” VDH officials wrote in a statement.

It’s unknown how many, if any, of the backlogged results were from Henrico County.
