Tuckahoe YMCA to host 'Welcoming Week' for refugees and immigrants

The Tuckahoe YMCA will host its annual Welcoming Week Sept. 14-21 to assist refugees and immigrants in a variety of ways.

The week will include a number of events for both groups, including three events that are open to the general public:

• a resume-building and interview prep workshop with the International Rescue Committee and Dominion Energy on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (registration is required in advance by calling 804-740-9622);

• Teen Tech Night on Friday, Sept. 20 – a chance for teens from around the world who live in the area to share their stories and make connections in the YMCA’s podcast studio;

• the Community Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, general health checkups, dental screenings and education and mental health resources, as well as a job fair and a financial coaching breakout session with the IRC.
