A bomb-sniffing dog who is part of the Transportation Security Administration's security team at Richmond International Airport is featured in the TSA's 2025 Canine Calendar, released this week online (and free of charge).

Hary, a six-and-a-half year-old German Shepherd, "is always on alert and ready to find any potential threats," according to the calendar.

Hary is particularly fond of the KONG toy, dental chews and anything covered in peanut butter. He works with handler Kyle S. at the airport.

The 2025 TSA Canine Calendar showcases 13 "extraordinary canines" selected from more than 80 entries submitted by TSA teams nationwide. The agency utilizes more than 1,000 explosives detection canines nationwide, and about 300 new canine recruits complete intensive 16-week training programs at the TSA Canine Training Center in San Antonio, Texas, each year.

During the training, the dogs are paired with their handlers, learn to master the art of detecting a variety of explosives odors, and socialize to adapt to busy transportation environments before reporting to their permanent duty stations.
