The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History is sending one of its exhibits to Union Presbyterian Seminary's William Smith Morton Library in Richmond.

The traveling exhibition Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human? will be at the library, at 3406 Chamberlayne Avenue, not far from the Henrico line, from Sept. 3 to Nov. 15.

“We are so excited that Union Presbyterian Seminary was selected to host this unique and fascinating exhibit,” said Seminary Exhibition Coordinator Chris Burton. “We have an impressive line-up of programs planned, with offerings for kids and adults."

The exhibition uses interactive kiosks, hands-on displays, and videos to invite visitors of all ages to learn about the milestones in the evolutionary journey of becoming human. The goal of the exhibit is to foster a public conversation about the multiple perspectives of what it means to be human, including those of non-scientists.

The NMNH has also arranged a series of educational programs for the community outside of the exhibition. These include a science program, educator workshop, and community conversations, the exact dates for which will be set in October.

The exhibition is free and open to the public during normal library hours.
