Three new restaurants will open at Regency mall in Henrico's Near West End during the next two months, and a new trampoline park will occupy the mall's former Macy's north building sometime next year, mall officials announced Tuesday. The changes continue Regency's makeover, which began about a year ago with the demolition of a ramp on Quioccasin Road.

Two restaurants will open next week: Chipotle Mexican Grill (Sept. 6) in the newly constructed 7,500-square-foot building along Quioccasin Road and Starbucks Coffee (Sept. 7), which will be located in the former Bank of America building.

MOD Pizza, adjacent to the Chipotle site, is expected to open in late September or early October, Regency officials said.

Surge Trampoline Park recently agreed to occupy the former Macy’s north building with 40,000 square feet of entertainment, fitness and sports amenities. Construction work on the site will begin this fall, with an opening date anticipated next year. The company, based in Louisiana, is expected to use what had been the second and third floors of the Macy's space and then demolish the third floor to allow ample space for trampoline activities.

“We are excited about the ongoing changes as we bring new retailers to the area,” said Regency General Manager Steve Bonniville. "These new additions are just the beginning of Regency’s transformation and, based on customer requests, we anticipate more announcements in the very near future."

Following the demolition of the existing entrance ramp, Quioccasin Road (between North Parham Road and Starling Drive) returned to normal conditions with two eastbound and two westbound travel lanes earlier this year. Traffic lights at the new four-way intersection connecting Regency to Walmart are functional. The intersection creates a new entrance to the mall property and now enables left hand turns into each shopping center for easier traffic flow.

As part of the master plan for improvements to the center, Regency repaved and restriped the majority of its parking lots between Quioccasin Road and the Food Court, as well as the area in front of McCormack’s Big Whisky Grill and over to JCPenney. Additions include new sidewalks, islands, landscaping and a lawn area for future events.

On Monday, site work began on the parking lot adjacent to Firestone on Parham Road to make way for Better Med and a drive-thru Panera Bread. Anticipated openings for the two new merchants are scheduled for late spring or early summer.
