Construction of a permanent roundabout on Francistown Road in front of Hungary Creek Middle School will begin Monday, June 24 and is expected to affect traffic in the area through mid-July, according to Henrico County officials.

The roundabout will replace a temporary one that was installed in April. A student was struck by a car and injured at the site in November while attempting to cross Francistown Road after school; the student was in the crosswalk at the time.

Construction of the permanent roundabout is expected from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through mid-July. During those times, flaggers will be in place to direct traffic.

Officials don't anticipate that the road will be closed during the construction process, but delays for travelers are likely.
