The Touchdown Club of Richmond recently honored John Shuman (pictured, center) as the recipient of the Ray Tate Award.

Shuman compiled a record of 190-110-1 during his 31-year head coaching career with the Fork Union Military Academy postgraduate team. The Ray Tate Award is presented by the TD Club to a person who exemplifies the commitment and dedication to the sport of football as exemplified by the late Ray Tate, who spent over 50 years associated with the game of football.

Making the presentation was Tate’s son Chris Tate (right) and Mike O'Toole (left), a longtime member of the TD Club Awards Committee.
