Henrico County reported 117 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, down slightly from the 138 it witnessed Tuesday, according to Virginia Department of Health data. The county is now averaging 114 new daily cases during the past week.

Three new deaths – of people in their 30s, 70s and 80s – and one new hospitalization attributed to the virus also were reported in the county Wednesday. It was the most virus-related deaths attributed to a single day in Henrico since three also were reported June 21.

Fourteen COVID deaths now have been reported this month in Henrico.

The county’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR testing encounters as of Sept. 11 was 9.2% and among rapid testing encounters was 9.1%. The state averages as of the same date were 10.5% and 8.4%, respectively.

Statewide during the week ending Sept. 4, unvaccinated people were 15 times more likely to develop COVID-19 than fully vaccinated people, according to VDH data. Breakthrough cases among fully vaccinated people occurred in about 39 people out of 100,000, but cases among unvaccinated Virginians occurred in about 587 people out of 100,000, the data showed.
