The COVID-19 outbreak has caused many people in the Richmond region to consider growing their own food, and there’s a local organization that wants to help you do it for free.
Beautiful RVA will build a raised garden in your backyard at no cost – and also provide you with free seedlings and a system for growing them.

If you don’t have a backyard, email Beautiful RVA at beautifulrva@gmail.com, and officials will connect you with a community garden. If there isn’t one nearby, Beautiful RVA will contact churches or your locality to inquire about building a garden on one of those sites; fill out a form at http://www.beautifulrva.org/suggest-a-project/ to request that service.
It costs the organization between $75 and $100 to build each raised garden bed. To support its efforts, visit https://enrichmond.org/partners/mcdonough-community-garden/.
