A Henrico teen is facing multiple charges of simple assault and one charge of malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle after allegedly shooting multiple people with a toy pellet gun in the county’s Far West End on four separate occasions June 6 and 7.

Two juvenile girls were struck by pellets from a toy gun while walking in the 5500 block of Barnsley Terrace in the Hampshire neighborhood at 6:13 p.m. June 7, and video from their home captured the incident, which police said showed the male driver of a dark gray Tesla Model S firing the pellets.

Police arrested 18-year-old Fernan Andres Chacon Gonzalez, who they said admitted that he was shooting random bystanders with a gel blaster pellet gun.

Both girls in the incident suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital trips.

Police then connected Gonzalez to three similar incidents that occurred in the area June 6 and 7:

• a woman reported a man inside a dark gray Tesla had shot pellets at her June 6 in the 11300 block of Nuckols Road, causing minor injuries;

• a pellet-gun shooting was reported in the 4900 block of Hickory Meadows Court June 7, resulting in minor injuries;

• a pellet-gun shooting was reported in the 5900 block of Dorrington Circle June 7, resulting in no injuries.

Gonzalez faces four counts of simple assault and one count of malicious shooting into an occupied moving vehicle. He is currently being held at Henrico Jail West.
