Taylor: 'Many people are urging me to run' for attorney general

Many people are urging Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney Shannon Taylor to run for the state's attorney general position, but she has not made any decision about doing so yet, she said in a Tuesday email to the Citizen.

The Citizen reported Friday that a friend of Taylor had emailed potential supporters urging them to donate to a campaign fund for Taylor; the subject of the email from the friend, David Rook, was "Shannon Taylor, Virginia's Next Attorney General." That night, Taylor told the Citizen she had not made any announcement about seeking the seat.

She had not replied to a follow-up message inquiring about Rook's email but did so Tuesday, implying that his effort doesn't mean that she will run.

"Many people across Virginia are urging me to run, including Mr. Rook," she wrote. "While I am flattered, there is a lot of work to be done here in Henrico and that is what I am focused on. I will not have any announcement about any future plans at this time."
