Sturgeon-sighting James River trips begin in September

The Atlantic sturgeon have begun their annual fall migration in the James, which means the Spirit of the James pontoon boat soon will launch its annual sturgeon-sighting outings.

Registration is now open for trips scheduled Sept. 9 (10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.), Sept. 10 (9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m.,  and 3 p.m.), Sept. 16 (10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.) and Sept. 17 (9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.).  Celebrate James River Week with staff members from the James River Association for a trip launching from Rocketts Landing Marina, and learn about the natural resources of the James River and the endangered Atlantic sturgeon.
