Stratford University is closing its Glen Allen location and two others in Virginia, school officials announced in an email to students Wednesday.

The Henrico location will close May 24, following the last day of class. The school also will close its Newport News and Virginia Beach locations, though the latter will remain open through October, allowing students to complete in-person labs.

Stratford's five other locations – in Alexandria, Falls Church, Woodbridge, Baltimore and New Delhi, India – will remain open.

School officials told a Virginia Beach television station that they were planning to focus more effort on online and international offerings and that the three locations they're closing were losing money.

Stratford will work with current students to help expedite their transfers to other schools, if they desire, and is offering outplacement services to faculty and staff members who will lose their jobs.

The Glen Allen location offered courses in business, culinary arts, hospitality management, computer science, information technology and health sciences and medical administration, among others.
