Henrico's Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) held its annual awards ceremony April 25 at Confederate Hills Recreation Center, honoring five champions of preservation.

Sponsored by Henrico County Division of Recreation and Parks, the awards ceremony honors individuals and groups for their efforts to preserve and promote Henrico County heritage.  This year's honorees included Dawn Murray Burnett for her volunteer service and donation to Friends of Meadow Farm, and the Founders Club of Sandston (represented by Alice Baldwin) for issuing commemorative plaques, sponsoring a state roadside historical marker and publishing a book about Sandston history.  Also recognized with awards were Yolanda Taylor for her inspirational writings and poetry about the African-American experience and her public outreach through presentations to schools, churches and conferences, and the Henrico County Historical Society (represented by Sarah Pace) for commemorating the 75th anniversary of U.S. entry into World War II with a "Homefront Tribute” held Sept. 2, 2017.
