Starbucks to locate at White Oak Village

Starbucks will open a free-standing location at The Shops at White Oak Village in Eastern Henrico County, taking the place of a former Steak ’n Shake at the site, Varina District Supervisor Tyrone Nelson said Monday on Twitter. Nelson represents the Varina District, where the shopping center is located.

Steak 'n Shake closed its location at White Oak in the fall of 2018 for remodeling but never reopened before closing permanently later that year. The 1-acre site has been empty since.

The site is owned by BurgerBusters, Inc., a regional Taco Bell franchisee based in Virginia Beach that also operates Steaks of Virginia, LLC, which owns and operates Steak ’n Shake locations throughout Virginia. Currently, only three Steak ’n Shake locations operate in the state – at Old Dominion, James Madison and George Mason universities.

The site was assessed for $1.9 million earlier this year.

Starbucks currently operates two smaller in-store locations at White Oak Village – inside Target and Publix – according to its website.
