Six weeks after surpassing $6 million in casework funds returned to constituents in Virginia’s Seventh District, U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger’s office this week announced that it has surpassed $7 million in returned funds.

Casework dollars include backlogged benefits and other funds from federal agencies or programs. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Spanberger’s office has maintained its work on typical casework concerns while also adapting to new needs like securing IRS refunds, locating lost stimulus checks, and helping bring home constituents who have been stranded abroad, according to office representatives.

Since taking office on Jan. 3, 2019, Spanberger’s team has closed 2,191 cases for Central Virginians and returned $7.12 million.

“My top priority is to serve the people of Virginia’s Seventh District.” said Spanberger. “Being able to return another one million dollars to Central Virginians in a month and a half is all thanks to my constituent services team that is dedicated each day to efficiently and effectively advocating for all our neighbors in the Seventh District, whether we agree on every issue or not. If anyone here in Central Virginia is having trouble with a federal agency, program, or benefit, or has additional questions about how our office can assist them, I strongly encourage them to reach out directly to our office.”
