U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger announced that her office has surpassed $6 million in casework funds returned to constituents in Virginia’s Seventh District since she took office Jan. 3, 2019.

Spanberger’s team has closed 2,090 cases for Central Virginians and returned more than $6,098,450.

Casework dollars come from backlogged benefits and often require advocates from the office to ensure fair treatment on behalf of constituents dealing with a federal agency or program. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Spanberger’s office has completed typical casework concerns and also adapted to new needs, including securing IRS refunds, locating lost stimulus checks, and helping bring home constituents who have been stranded abroad.

“Whether we agree on every issue or not, my first responsibility is to serve the people of Virginia’s Seventh District,” Spanberger said. “I’m proud that my office has built a strong constituent services team that can efficiently and effectively advocate for all Central Virginians who are experiencing issues with federal agencies, programs, or benefits.

“If anyone here in Central Virginia is having trouble with a federal agency or has additional questions about how our office can help them, I strongly encourage them to reach out directly to our office.”
