Spanberger’s office has returned $4 million to Seventh District residents

U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger this week announced that her office has passed $4 million in casework funds returned to constituents in Virginia’s Seventh District.

Casework dollars are secured and returned by fighting for backlogged benefits, and advocating for fair treatment on behalf of constituents dealing with a federal agency or program.

Since taking office on Jan. 3, 2019, Spanberger’s team has closed 1,657 cases for Central Virginians and returned $4,089,474.

“As many working families and seniors fight to keep their heads above water during this devastating pandemic and economic crisis, certainty and stability are key. When an error results in delays to critical benefits like Medicare coverage or Social Security payments, it can have a ripple effect that throws Central Virginians into financial insecurity,” said Spanberger. “My office is proud to advocate for our neighbors when those errors occur, and to fight to make sure they receive timely answers and fair treatment.
