Southwest begins nonstop service from Richmond to Denver

Southwest Airlines began its new daily nonstop service from Richmond International Airport to Denver May 9.
Officials celebrated with a ribbon-cutting at the Southwest ticket counter at the airport and a celebratory water arch salute conducted by the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting department for the first Southwest Airlines Denver departure.
Denver is the eighth most popular destination from RIC, according to airport officials.
The new service comes just about a month after Southwest added nonstop flights between RIC and Chicago’s Midway Airport.
