In August, the SONIC Foundation donated $1 million to help fund requests to Donors Choose, a national nonprofit that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom requests submitted by teachers. The $1 million donation is part of the SONIC® Drive-In brand's Limeades for Learning initiative, designed to help teachers and students get the classroom supplies they need for the new school year.

In the Richmond area, 34 teachers received a combined donation of $6,770 from the SONIC Foundation. Among the Henrico schools and projects benefitting from the grants are:

  • Arthur Ashe E.S. (Mrs. Y, Grades Prek-2) for the project The Books Missed You!;
  • Glen Lea E.S. (Ms. Vanderland, Grades PreK-2 and Grades 3-5) for the projects Writing the Future Right Now and More Mega Manga Mania;
  • Harvie E.S. (Ms. Robinson, Grades PreK-2) for the project Water that Wows!;
  • Wilder M.S. (Ms. Irving, Grades 6-8) for the projects Warmth & Comfort for the Winter and Wilder's Giving Closet.
