[maxgallery id="40539"]More than 100 Henrico County Career and Technical Education students celebrated their post-high school plans yesterday during the school system's second-annual letter-of-intent signing day celebration at Libbie Mill Library.

The event, which earned national attention last year, is designed to mimic ceremonies that honor high school athletes as they gather in gyms to sign letters-of-intent to play for NCAA athletic programs. Henrico Schools’ CTE signing day event recognizes students entering the workforce with a similar ceremony before family and members of the media.

Students and representatives of their future employers both signed letters-of-intent outlining what students must do before and during employment, what the employer will provide in pay and training and an estimate of the position’s value. Students then donned hats or other forms of promotional clothing representing the company, Henrico County Public Schools and the school division’s Career and Technical Education program.

Yesterday's event included students who plan to work in the fields of health services; human services; IT and technology; and skilled trades.
