A brother and sister have been arrested and charged in connection to a fire that damaged a Lakeside restaurant in February.

Jordan Castaneda, 37, and Shelby Castaneda, 32, were each charged with burning or destroying any other building or structure and conspiracy to commit felony arson. They are being held without bond, according to the Henrico County Fire Marshal's Office.

On Feb. 24, the Henrico County Fire Department received a report of a fire at Lakeside Burgers & Fries, 5404 Lakeside Avenue, at around 6:57 a.m. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from inside. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the flames caused significant damage to the restaurant. No one was injured.

"After several weeks of examining evidence and conducting interviews, the Fire Marshal’s Office determined there is ample reason to believe the fire was intentionally set," said Assistant Chief Henry Rosenbaum, Henrico County’s Fire Marshal.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt,” Rosenbaum said. “But the fire did cause significant damage. Firefighters on scene had great awareness in alerting the Fire Marshals, who were then able to build an investigation. We also appreciate the support of Henrico Police throughout this process.”

The criminal investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Henrico County Fire Marshal's Office at (804) 501-4914 or email firemarshal@henrico.us.
