The Short Pump Ruritan Club presented special awards for service to Henrico County and scholarships to eight graduating high school seniors at the club’s monthly membership on June 22 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church.

Short Pump Ruritan Club President Gina Brooks and Secretary Bruce Brooks recognized three Henrico County first-responders and a local business leader for their exemplary service to the citizens of the county:
• Short Pump Ruritan 2021 Police Officer of the Year – John Nance, Henrico County Division of Police;
• Short Pump Ruritan 2021 Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year – Langston Logan, Henrico County Sheriff’s Office;
• Short Pump Ruritan 2021 Firefighter of the Year – Julian Day, Henrico County Division of Fire
• Short Pump Ruritan Business Person of the Year – Andrew Price, sales manager and residential loan officer, Fulton Bank.

At the same dinner meeting, several Henrico County graduating seniors each were presented with a $1,000 scholarship check to be used for their college education by Bill Miller, chair of the club’s Scholarship Committee. They were:L
• Shruti Bala, Deep Run High School;
• Abhay Dharnikota, Godwin High School;
• Hridya Mainra, Deep Run High School;
• Daphne Pang, Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School;
• Michelle Quach, Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School;
• Nazifa Rahman, J. R. Tucker High School;
• Colin Schmidt, J. R. Tucker High School;
• Emily Toler, Douglas S. Freeman High School.

“All of our members of the Short Pump Ruritan Club look forward to this annual event where we can honor our county first responders and business leaders and present scholarships to deserving Henrico County students,” said Club President Gina Brooks. “We care about this community and do everything to give back and help make Short Pump, Henrico and the Greater Richmond area a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
