The Short Pump Ruritan Club continued its support of the Richmond Fisher House with a donation of $8,500 during its Oct. 25 meeting. (Club Treasurer Bill Wheeler is pictured above presenting the check to Fisher House Program Support Assistant Willie "Mac" McDonald, as Fisher House Director Wayne Walker looks on.)

The funds came from the Short Pump Ruritan Club Charity Golf Tournament held at The Hollows Golf Course in Hanover County in September.

The Richmond Fisher House, located on the campus of McGuire Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Richmond, was a gift to the VA from the Fisher House Foundation. It is designed to serve as a home away from home for the families of veterans who are receiving care at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System. The home is 16,800 square feet in size and consists of 41 suites with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, spacious dining room and an inviting living room with a library and toys for children. Fisher House Foundation ensures that there is no fee to stay in a Fisher House.
